I also want to make note of a new book that was released last month that helps parents if they think their child might have some sort of mental health issue. It is a road map - i.e. what is the next step if the teacher tells me my child needs help. I think every parent should have this book because it is a gret resource and you will be better educated when chatting with docs, teachers, etc. The book is called, "How to Find Mental Health Care For Your Child", written by Ellen Braaten, Ph.D and published by the American Psychological Association. I think you can get it quite inexpensively on Amazon.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9016381446402077042.post-61765337825414798542010-10-14T13:05:45.882-04:002010-10-14T13:05:45.882-04:00A few years ago, we were in the unfortunate situat...A few years ago, we were in the unfortunate situation of having to discuss sexual abuse with our young school-aged children (first and third grades), as their after-school caregiver was accused by another child. For the older one, we found that there was a great section in "It's So Amazing" by Robie Harris about OK touching and not-OK touching, and what to do about it, etc.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9016381446402077042.post-72159842957894460732010-10-14T13:00:15.296-04:002010-10-14T13:00:15.296-04:00I love the Helping Hands series.
